The Dragon King

The Dragon King podcast will collect a series of short stories that I wrote in the style of the Brothers Grimm. You may wonder why anyone would want to write in the style of the Brothers Grimm. Isn't that awfully 19th Century? Well, the Brothers Grimm gave us one of the basic forms of modern fantasy. Their stories are also a wonderful gateway for kids to connect with the world of the past. Both those things deserve to be honored and carried forward.

Although I had great fun writing these stories, I had a terrible time marketing them. Somehow we've all got it in our heads that fairy tales are only for little kids, so the standard fantasy magazines weren't interested. Kids's magazines generally don't have room for stories over 1,000 words, so they weren't interested, either.

Two of these stories were published in electronic magazines, but most of them languished... until now. This podcast will present the entire group together, for the first time anywhere.
